Deciding to begin a relationship with a therapist is a big deal. The cornerstone of healing is the magic that happens in the brave space created between therapist and client. It is important that it is a good fit and feels right.

Healing happens in relationships.

Our sessions will be

  • Safe

Right from the initial session, we will work together to create a sense of safety in the therapeutic relationship. Understanding that due to life events, trusting someone new may be very difficult - seemingly impossible.

  • Relational

The relationship between client and therapist is sacred. When there is a problem in the relationship, a misunderstanding or misattunement, it is important to use this as an opportunity to repair the rupture and strengthen the relationship.

  • Transformative

We will work together to identify areas in your life that feel stuck, or are particularly sore. With gentle curiosity, we will explore the old hurts while firmly rooted in the here and now. Even situations that have been difficult for years can be healed and shift - affecting current relationships.

FAQs

Can I use my health insurance for group and individual therapy?

Yes! Usually individual therapy is covered by insurance, group therapy may be covered. I am in-network with Aetna and Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield. I am currently only licensed in NY, so you would need to live in NY to use your insurance. I am out of network with all other providers, so you would need to pay at the time of service and then you can submit the receipt for reimbursement through your insurance company.

Who will you share my information with?

Unless you sign a release and there is a discussion about specific information to be shared with another party, all of your information is confidential!

How do I know if I need therapy?

If you are having a hard time finding peace and a sense of purpose in your life, you may benefit from counseling. Many people begin counseling to address specific symptoms (anxiety, depression, insomnia, etc.). Others struggle in relationships and want to become their best selves. The best way to find out if you would benefit from therapy is to try it out!

How long does therapy last?

Therapy can last as long as it is necessary! Each person needs something different. The length of treatment is based on a conversation between the client and the therapist with frequent check ins to make sure that needs are being met.

Can I combine individual and group therapy?

Yes! That is a great idea! There is so much to be gained from both experiences. You can do both at the same time, or transition from one to the other.

Are there any concerns that you unable to work with?

For the most part, I meet people wherever they are. However, if there are significant and persistent safety issues or an individual really needs more than I can ethically offer, I will refer them to appropriate services. These decisions will always include a conversation.
