My Approach
It all begins with connection. From the very first interaction, I strive to meet you exactly where you are and create a space where you feel welcome. Sometimes it takes awhile to feel safe with a new person, that makes sense! I am patient and understand how long it may take to feel safe. I know that building a foundation of trust takes time - as it should! Being cautious is really smart and protective.
Who I am-
I am a well-seasoned therapist, experienced in working with teens and young adults in both individual and group settings. As such, I have a good sense of humor, speak sarcasm and am comfortable talking about anything that comes up. I find it easy to make connections with teens and enjoy helping families improve communication so that being a teen (and raising a teen) is a bit easier. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults.
I have extensive experience in group work, both in facilitating therapy process groups, as well as leading groups focusing on Emotions Education.
My Training -
I am trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). This is an experiential form of therapy - not just talking, but working to rewire how the brain (and body) respond to traumatic or difficult experiences. It isn’t magic, it is solidly based in neuroscience. The beginning of this transformational process is creating a safe space between client and therapist to serve as a secure base to try out new things and rethink current relationship patters.
